Static Site Generation
Static site generation builds your site's HTML pages in advance, once, at publish time, instead of assembling each page fresh on every visit. The result is a stack of plain files a web server can hand out instantly, with no database query in the moment.
That makes static sites fast, cheap to host, and hard to attack, since there is no live application sitting behind each request. The tradeoff is that anything truly dynamic has to be handled another way, and the site has to be rebuilt and redeployed whenever the content changes.
