Responsive Design
Responsive design is the practice of building a page so its layout adapts to whatever screen it lands on, from a phone to a large monitor. The same content reflows and rearranges instead of forcing you to pinch and zoom.
The layout shifts at certain widths called breakpoints, where columns stack, menus collapse, and images resize. It pairs naturally with mobile-first design, where you start with the smallest screen and enhance upward. With responsive design you build one site that works across devices rather than maintaining a separate mobile site.
