Plug-In

An extension to a content management system (CMS) packaged for distribution and installation into other instances of the CMS.

The ecosystem of a particular CMS often generates plug-ins for their system and maintains a common repository. A common example is a search plug-in or extension that allows for faceted filtering.

Often known by other names: Extension, Module, Component, or Add-On.
