Heat Map

A heat map is a visualization that shows the "hot areas" of a page: where people click, move their cursor, scroll, or look on a page. Activity is rendered in color, typically warm reds for heavy attention and cooler blues for areas people ignore.

While most web analytics tells you what happened in numbers, a heat map shows you where it happened on the page itself. It's useful for spotting design problems, like a call to action sitting in a cold, untouched zone, or people repeatedly clicking something that isn't a link.
