Engagement Rate

Engagement rate is the share of visits to your site that counted as "engaged" — lasting a certain length of time, viewing more than one page, or completing a meaningful action. It's came to prominence as a headline metric in Google Analytics 4.

It reframes the older idea of bounce rate: instead of measuring who left quickly, it measures who stayed and did something. Like any metric, it only means something once you've decided what engagement is supposed to lead to.
