Discovery

The early research phase where your team learns about your content, your users, and your goals before anyone starts building.

Discovery as a phase often occurs at the start of a project, when the project team is most likely to be determining early strategy of the project. However, discovery as a concept is tackled throughout the project, whenever conversations focus on questions, rather than answers.

Discovery might include initial research or analytics, conversations with stakeholders, user research, and determination of success. Discovery often feels dispensable, but in fact the work that goes into discovery is often saved due to deeper confidence in the work later on.
