Digital Policy

Digital policy is the rulebook for your site and for your organization as a whole regarding digital communication. Your digital policy will define what's allowed and what isn't. Some of it is legal, covering privacy, accessibility, and records retention, and some is editorial, like what tone is acceptable or who can speak for the organization.

Policy sets the rules within digital governance, while a web steering committee and product owner handle who decides. Good policy is specific enough to guide real decisions, so an editor facing a borderline comment can look it up rather than guess.
