Deployment

The process of moving your site's code and files from where they're built to the hosting environment where they go live. Until you deploy, your work only exists on a developer's machine or a staging server, where nobody else can see it.

A deployment can be as crude as copying files over by hand, but most teams automate it so it's repeatable and hard to get wrong. The same word covers both the big launch and smaller weekday fixes. Every time new work reaches the live site, that's a deployment.
