Content Inventory

The process of finding and listing every piece of content on your existing site, including every page, PDF, image, and video, usually in a large spreadsheet.

A content inventory is mechanical and objective, counting and recording what exists rather than deciding whether it's any good. That judgment comes later, in the content audit. The inventory is closer to taking attendance: you note that something is there, where it lives, and who owns it.
