Backup

A backup is a saved copy of your site, its database, and its files, created according to a pre-set schedule and stored somewhere safe so you can restore everything if something goes wrong.

Servers fail, code breaks, files get deleted by accident, and malicious acts happen, and a backup is your safety net for all of it.

The verb used to create a back up is "back up." Backups can regularly fail, and the only way to trust one is to practice restoring from it. Solid, tested backups are the foundation of any disaster recovery plan and the thing that makes a rollback possible.
